The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry Associations (EFPIA) commissioned RAND Europe to conduct a rapid evidence review of key insights on the value of health data.
The review had a robust methodological approach and was informed by an analysis of scholarly and grey literature, interviews with experts from diverse stakeholder groups and consultation at a European Union (EU)‐level expert roundtable with workshops. Reflections from the workshops were subsequently incorporated in the final report.
Health iQ was consulted and Hassan Chaudhury, Chief Commercial Officer at Health iQ, commented that:
“There is no doubt about the incredible value of health data and, in particular, the value of being able to derive and deliver insight. This landmark report correctly highlights how we need to foster collaboration and coordination and create more supportive environments so we can address pressing challenges to data sharing and access so all stakeholders benefit”.
The final report, entitled ‘Understanding value in health data ecosystems’ and published in April 2017, touches on different uses of health data and associated value as well as how to enable receptive health data ecosystems in order to help realise the potential benefits of health data access, sharing and use.
